Production halls, distribution, energy — the half of the built environment that gets photographed worst and deserves it least. Given the same day a gallery would get, an industrial building wins awards and planning arguments.

Pools, terminals, libraries and the things that carry people about. Paid for by everybody and judged by everybody. Pictures of a public building being used and liked are what a trust needs for its funders and for its next scheme.
See civic workI photograph buildings in great light, used by real people. That means I plan each shoot around the orientation of the building and weather rather than around my diary. And if the weather fails us, I come back at the first next opportunity at my own cost. An empty building on a grey day is a picture of nothing.
